Fridays@One: The Digital Divide: Income, Race and Broadband Access | The New School

Sponsored by the Institute for Retired Professionals (http://newschool.edu/irp).

Maya Wiley, Senior Vice President for Social Justice at The New School and former counsel to Mayor Bill de Blasio has led the way in New York City to bring broadband access to the poorest members of the city’s population. Whether it’s doing homework, searching for a job, or starting a business broadband is a necessity that still is beyond the reach of many low-income citizens of color. Wiley talks about what she has done about this critical issue and what remains to be accomplished.
